Cape Point is a dramatic promontory at the southeastern corner of the Cape Peninsula, forming part of the Table Mountain National Park. This iconic destination offers breathtaking views where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge, though the actual meeting point is at Cape Agulhas further east.
The reserve is home to the historic Cape Point Lighthouse, perched 238 metres above sea level. Visitors can reach the lighthouse via the Flying Dutchman funicular or by hiking up the steep path. The views from the top span across False Bay and the rugged coastline.
The Cape Point Nature Reserve protects over 7,750 hectares of indigenous fynbos vegetation, with more than 1,100 plant species. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot baboons, ostriches, bontebok, eland, and Cape mountain zebra roaming freely. The area is also renowned for its diverse birdlife.
Popular activities include hiking the numerous trails, visiting the shipwreck museum, and exploring the tidal pools at the base of the cliffs. The Two Oceans Restaurant offers dining with panoramic ocean views, making it perfect for a memorable lunch stop.
Open daily from 06:00 to 18:00 (October - March) and 07:00 to 17:00 (April - September). Last entry one hour before closing.
